Author: swallow_dream
Rating: R
Warnings: Spoilers for Five Years Gone
Summary: Sylar fits in his life so much better than Nathan ever did. Sylar/Peter, implied Sylar/Mohinder and Nathan/Peter.
Disclaimer: Characters do not belong to me. Lyrics in the cut tag are from 'Brothers on a Hotel Bed' by Death Cab For Cutie.
A/N: This is just a repost- I deleted this story through strikethrough07, but then reposted it here. Title translates to 'the illusion of doubles', and comes from
this link on Capgras's Syndrome, in which someone is under the belief that a loved one has been replaced by someone else.
L'illusion des Sosies
Sometimes, Sylar thinks of how ashamed Nathan would be if he saw how easily Sylar takes over being him. Ashamed to see how easily Sylar slid into his life and took his place. Nathan would be even more ashamed to know that it's not just having Nathan's strong jaw and dark eyes; it's not just studying him and mimicking his mannerisms. It's that he fits so perfectly into Nathan's life that it's almost as if Nathan had never existed.
Nathan's hand braced low on Mohinder's back, leaning in a hair closer than appropriate, lips almost brushing the doctor's ear. Protecting Peter by blaming everything on Sylar, just as Nathan would have done.
He fits everywhere Nathan never did, stretched out over Peter in the middle of the Oval Office, lying about love in his brother's ear better than Nathan ever could.
Sylar pushes into Peter slowly, sliding his tongue inbetween sharp shoulderblades, and trembling, thinking of how ashamed Nathan would be that Sylar was doing what he himself never had the guts to do.

Protecting Peter by blaming everything on Sylar, just as Nathan would have done.
dfgkdkghdfjg that ... just ... wow.
I would love to see this extended into a full fic too, but I generally have a major inability to write long fics. woe.
I share to lack-of-long-fic-writing-skills-woe. The longest thing I've written in any fandom is probably less than 1500 words. Maybe more drabbles?
